Course Description for Internal Auditor Courses

 This course is a combination of the ISO 9001:2008 Overview and the Auditing Concepts courses.

In this 2 day course, the student will learn the basic requirements of the ISO Standard and concepts of auditing their own management system. During the first day, the student will experience an overview of the ISO Standard, the history and rational for the concepts of the particular standard, and gain experience in interpreting the requirements of the standard from an auditor’s view. The benefits of the ISO Standard and the implementation of its principles will be understood. They will also understand how to “custom fit” the requirements into their organization’s current methods, and where improvement of those methods may be found.In the second day, the course is geared to the principles and practices of auditing, with a focus on internal audits.

The course material is designed to take the student through the ISO 19001 guidelines for conducting internal audits, reporting the findings, requesting corrective actions, and being a integral part in their organization’s improvement. Practice audits with other students are conducted to gain hands-on auditing experience.This course was written by well-experienced professional auditors based on their experiences and cumulative knowledge. The student will also be prepared to perform supplier audits professionally, if that is their focus. Students participating in this course will

·         Understand the requirements of the course-applicable ISO standard.

·         How to view the requirements as an auditor and apply them to various production and service industries.

·         Learn a brief history of quality management.

·         Better understand the documentation requirements of the standard as they apply to YOUR organization.

·         Obtain and evaluate objective evidence to accurately assess YOUR management system to help improve process performance.

·         Perform practice audits with other students that put what you learn into practice.

·         Understand the auditing requirements of ISO 19011.

·         Learn what works and doesn’t work in actual audit scenarios.

·         Accurately report the objective evidence accumulated.
